As a typical high-strength Al-Cu-Mg duralumin, 2024 aluminium plate derives its core strength from the synergistic effect of its 3.8%-4.9% copper content and 1.2%-1.8% magnesium content. It owns a high tensile strength of 400-500 MPa and a yield strength of ≥245 MPa.
It maintains stable performance below 150 ℃and outperforms 7075 alloy at temperatures above 125 ℃. In the aerospace sector, it is a key material for aircraft fuselage skins, wing panels, and landing gear support structures. It also has applications in the automotive industry and other fields.
