3105 Aluminum Coil
3105 aluminum coil is an alloy material specifically designed for medium-to-low strength, high corrosion resistance applications, perfectly meeting the needs of roller shutter doors. Its core advantages lie in the precise ratio of its alloy components.
Compared to pure aluminum coil, the addition of manganese significantly increases the strength of 3105 alloy. It can withstand the repeated pulling during the raising and lowering of the roller shutter door without deforming or breaking due to excessive brittleness.
At the same time, manganese enhances the material's corrosion resistance, effectively resisting the erosion of outdoor wind, rain, and humid environments, preventing rust and damage after long-term use. It is especially suitable for outdoor or humid roller shutter doors.
Furthermore, 3105 aluminum coil has only one-third the density of steel, which not only reduces the load on the roller shutter motor and extends its lifespan, but also simplifies installation and lowers construction costs.
Compared to other commonly used alloys (such as 3003 and 5052), 3105 aluminum coil offers more significant advantages: it has better corrosion resistance and plasticity than 3003 alloy, facilitating bending, stamping, and other processing, thus meeting the forming requirements of roller shutters; it is also more cost-effective than 5052 alloy, eliminating the premium associated with high-strength alloys, while still meeting the basic strength requirements of roller shutters, making it a more cost-effective and ideal choice that balances practicality and economy.
Temper Selection
1. O-state (Annealed State)
3105-O aluminum coil is suitable for roller shutters with special shapes that require multiple bending processes (such as curved roller shutters and irregularly shaped roller shutters). This state of aluminum coil offers good flexibility, preventing cracking during bending, and is easy to cut, allowing for precise adaptation to different roller shutter sizes.
However, it's important to note that the O-state has lower strength and is not suitable for high-traffic areas, frequent raising and lowering, or scenarios that may withstand impacts (such as industrial plant doors). It's more suitable for light-duty applications like shops and garages.
2. H24 State (Semi-rigid)
3105H24 aluminum coils balance strength and ductility, making them the mainstream choice for roller shutter manufacturers. Its moderate strength (tensile strength approximately 150-180MPa) allows it to withstand the wear and tear from repeated raising and lowering while maintaining a degree of flexibility, meeting the molding requirements of conventional roller shutters. It requires no complex processing and offers the best cost-performance ratio.
3. H18 State (Fully Rigid)
6105H18 aluminum coils also have the highest strength (tensile strength exceeding 200MPa) and excellent wear resistance. They are suitable for demanding scenarios with high traffic, frequent raising and lowering, and the need to withstand certain impacts, such as large industrial plants, logistics warehouses, and outdoor public areas.
Aluminum coils in this state have high hardness, effectively resisting external impacts, reducing deformation and wear of roller shutter blades, and extending service life. However, their disadvantages include poor plasticity, making them prone to cracking during bending, unsuitable for complex roller shutter designs, and more difficult to process, resulting in slightly higher costs than the H24 state. Surface Treatment
1. Anodizing Treatment
Anodizing treatment not only significantly improves the material's corrosion resistance and wear resistance but also isolates it from air and moisture, preventing oxidation and discoloration. Furthermore, anodizing can be combined with different colors (such as silver, bronze, and black), making it suitable for shops and high-end garage roller shutters with high aesthetic requirements. Anodized 3105 aluminum coils can have a service life extended to over 15 years and require minimal maintenance, only periodic wiping to keep them clean.
2. Color Coating Treatment (PE/PVDF)
Color coating treatment is currently the most mainstream surface treatment method for 3105 aluminum coils used in roller shutters, and it is divided into PE color coating and PVDF color coating. PE coating offers high cost-effectiveness, a rich color selection (matching RAL color charts), and good weather resistance, making it suitable for general outdoor and commercial settings.
PVDF coating (fluorocarbon coating) boasts exceptional weather resistance and UV resistance, preventing fading and chalking even after long-term outdoor exposure. Its corrosion resistance is also superior to PE coating, making it suitable for harsh outdoor environments such as coastal areas, high temperatures, and strong UV radiation, such as commercial and outdoor warehouse roller shutters in coastal regions.
Both coating treatments allow roller shutters to seamlessly integrate with architectural styles while further enhancing durability, with a coating lifespan of 10-20 years.
3. Brushed Finish
Brushed finish creates a uniform brushed texture on the surface of 3105 aluminum coils through mechanical friction, presenting a simple and delicate metallic feel, suitable for modern-style commercial and office roller shutters.
However, it's important to note that brushed finish itself does not provide additional corrosion resistance. It typically needs to be combined with anodizing or spray coating to meet outdoor usage requirements, making it suitable for indoor or semi-outdoor settings.
